I wonder what your answer would be if I were to ask you, “What is the most important family in the world?” My family certainly is not the one! although my wife and five children are very special to me.
But something has happened to each member of my family that has made them to become part of the most wonderful family in the world! Have you become part of that family yet?
Let us find out some things about that wonderful family.
When Jesus Christ came from Heaven as the Saviour for mankind, the nation, and even some of the family He was born into, were not happy to receive Him and believe in Him. (John 1:11. 7:5. 19:14-16.)
“Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God…” (John 1:12.) They were “adopted” by God into God’s wonderful family. (Ephesians 1:3-14. Romans 8:1, 12-17.)
So, you see, it is not your parents, or your age, or your religion that has anything to do with you becoming part of God’s wonderful family. It happens when you believe in Jesus; trusting Him alone to be the Priest and Saviour you need. (John 1:12-13. 6:36-40. 17:20-24.)
This teaching is not something that religious leaders want people to hear and believe. At the time of our story the religious leaders warned those early “believers” that under no condition were they to speak or to teach in the name of Jesus. (Acts 4:18.) Religions do not want you to believe that Jesus is the only way, or the only Person who can save you. (John 14:6. 1stTimothy 2:5-6.)
Nevertheless, “with great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus,” the one and only Saviour God had given for the world. (verse 33. 5:31-32.)
“The group of believers” – God’s wonderful family – “was one in mind and heart.” They just had to be sharing the good news of Jesus the Saviour with more and more people. As well as that, they all shared with one another everything they had. (verse 32f.)
Why was this? They were all behaving so differently now - young and old, male and female, rich and poor, educated and uneducated, slaves and masters - they now loved and cared for each other with one mind and heart! This was because they had each been changed by becoming part of God’s wonderful family when they put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Priest. (Acts 4:12. 1stCorinthians 5:17. Ephesians 5:1-21.)
Have you become part of that family yet?
Remember, it is only those who are true “believers” in the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour that “become children of God”. (John-1:12-13.)
I am always happy to hear from other members of God’s wonderful family.
