Help me Jesus!
If you could have a wish granted I wonder what you would
request? Would it be some pleasure? or riches? or some possession?
A friendship? or maybe an ambition? or good health?
I want to tell you about a man who was put on the spot one day to
request any wish he had and it would be granted. Let us find out
what he chose.
A beggar by the roadside near Jericho began to shout as a crowd was
passing him by, "'Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.!' Those
who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he
shouted all the more.'" 1*.
Here was someone very determined to get help from Jesus.
Have you ever had such a strong desire to call out, "Help me Jesus!" ? Today you need Jesus!
Jesus was born into the family line of king David. He was born to
be King. 2*. He was
seen to rule over all - even sickness and death were at His
control, and He alone had power to forgive sin. 3*.
On hearing the beggar's cry for help "Jesus stopped and ordered the
man to be brought to Him… Jesus asked him, 'What do you want Me to
do for you?'" 4*.
What an opportunity and privilege! The King of kings is asking
"What do you want Me to do for you?" Should he ask for money? or
clothing? or food? or shelter? This blind beggar showed his great
faith in Jesus' power and love - he asked, "Lord, I want to see."
4*.
Although this man was blind he had recognised Jesus as the promised
Christ who was to have the power to heal. 5*.
Jesus is looking for faith from people today. Faith in Him as the
King, and as One who was born "to save His people from their sins,"
and to deliver them from evil. 6*.
Do you earnestly want Jesus to be your Saviour and
King? Have you trusted in Him alone to forgive your sins, and
do you now find yourself willing to obey and serve Him for the rest
of your life here on earth?
Jesus said to the blind beggar, "'receive your sight; your faith
has healed you.' Immediately he received his sight and followed
Jesus, praising God." 7*.
Jesus offers to you today a wonderful change to your life!
Jesus alone can open your eyes and turn you from darkness to light
and from the power of Satan to God, so that you may receive
forgiveness of sins, and assurance of Heaven. 8*.
Do you know Jesus as your Saviour and King in this way? Do you find
yourself wanting to live your life praising God because you know
Jesus has turned your life from sin? If not, right now you can, in
faith, call out, "Help ME Jesus!
Saviour have mercy on me and forgive and keep me." He will respond
immediately to such faith, and you will be saved by Him.
9*.

verses 35-43.
