Who are some of the people who come to your mind as being a
great success in the world? Maybe one of these: a musician, artist,
scientist, leader, social worker, or peace-maker.
The parents of those who become famous people are no doubt proud of
the success of their children. But, parents can be proud of their
children without them having to become famous - proud of their good
qualities; their truthfulness, kindness to others, their love, or
their obedience. I wonder is your life one that would make a good
mother and father proud to say, "That's my child."
God's true children will delight to please their Heavenly Father.
1*. Jesus proved
Himself able and willing to deliver people from the evil that
spoils lives and makes them displeasing to God and man.
2*.
"A woman in the crowd called out, ‘Blessed is the mother who gave
you birth and nursed you.'" 3*.
In response to this woman saying "Blessed is
Mary" Jesus spoke of another blessing that many can
enjoy along with Mary! Jesus said to the crowd, "Blessed
rather are those who hear the word of God and obey
it!" 4*.
A greater blessing than that of being the mother who raised
Jesus is available to you and me! Mary had enjoyed this blessing
before becoming the mother of Jesus! 5*.
Why was Mary chosen to be the mother of Jesus? Her cousin
Elizabeth, "filled with the Holy Spirit", was able to answer that!
She said it was because Mary believed and trusted that the Lord
could and would do all He said. 6*.
Now Jesus was telling the crowd that all those "who hear the
word of God and obey it" are truly blessed.
4*.
Mary was blessed because she listened and believed in the wonderful
miracle God wanted to do in and through her life. The same God
wants to do a wonderful miracle in and through YOUR life! But will
you have the faith and obedience that Mary had?
Listen to God's plan for YOU!
You need new life within you! But it is NOT a baby God is talking
about putting into you!! You need to have the spiritual life
put within you that only Jesus can give. Because of your
sins you are spiritually dead to God! 7*. The reason Jesus became one of us,
by being born through Mary, was to become our Saviour.
8*. Jesus, God Son,
came to be our "human" substitute and take the punishment of death
that we deserved for our sin. 9*. He alone can offer us spiritual life, saving us
from eternal spiritual death.
Having listened to what God wants to do in your life through Jesus
are you ready and willing to trust and obey God by asking Jesus
to be your Saviour and Life-giver just now?
Mary needed and received this spiritual life through faith in the
coming of Jesus as the Saviour of the world. She rejoiced in her
soul because she knew and trusted God as her Saviour.
10*.
Read in Luke's Gospel chapter 11, verses 27-28 about Jesus telling
what it is that makes a person truly blessed.
