What is the purpose of life? Man eats to live; he lives to
work; he works to eat; he eats to live; and so it goes on - until
he dies! Is that all life is about?
Surely the best person to answer this for us would be the one who
started it all; our Creator God. 1*.
Listen to what Jesus said: "Watch out! Be on your guard against all
kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of
his possessions." 2*.
Then He told this parable, "The ground of a certain rich man
produced a good crop… He thought, `I will store all my grain and my
goods. And I'll say to myself, "Take life easy; eat, drink and be
merry."' 3*.
This man thought the meaning of life
was just to be able to eat, drink and be merry! "But God said to
him, `You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from
you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?'
4*.
His dreams of ease and riches had been like beautiful empty bubbles
that were about to burst! He had missed finding the whole purpose
and value of life, and had nothing of any value for eternity!
He had been like a child who found a strange object but did not
know what it was. After trying to float it in his bath, and trying
several other things with it he got some fun out of bouncing it
around.. If only he had read the maker's advice on it he would have
known how to make use of this very useful and wonderful gadget; but
all he had succeeded in doing was destroying it!
Don't you be doing something like that with the life God has given
you! God, our Maker, 5*. is the great expert on our lives. You can find
out from Him in His Word, the Holy Bible, why He made you and me.
How sad it must be for Him to see the lives He created being wasted
and destroyed because of mankind's selfish and foolish behaviour.
Lives that were designed to be so useful and glorious wrecked and
ruined by sin! 6*.
God loves you and He has made it possible for you to still get the
best out of your life. 7*. "This is how God showed his love ..: He sent his
one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him."
"God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still
sinners, Christ died for us." He "gave himself for us to redeem us
from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are
his very own, eager to do what is good." 8*.
Remember! The sinful pleasures and attractions of this life are
like a bubble that will burst and leave you with nothing for
eternity - nothing except judgement from God!
Trust in Jesus now to forgive YOUR sins and to make and keep your
life pleasing to God your Maker. You will not only have found the
true meaning for life, you will also
be sure of eternal life and joys Heaven with God! 9*.
Read Jesus' warning in Luke chapter 12, verses 13-21 to those who
miss the true meaning for life.
