Jesus is
coming!
Jesus used this strange illustration when He wanted people to
think about His return to earth. "If the owner of the house had
known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his
house be broken into." 1*. Why did He use the example of a
thief?
Jesus knew that His return to earth was sure to take many people by
surprise. Not many people would believe it would happen, and others
would give up expecting Him to come back. 2*.
All who would not be ready for and expecting Jesus to return were
going to lose a lot!
When Jesus comes the second time He will NOT be badly treated as He
was when He came the first time. 3*. The reason Jesus came the first time was to
take the punishment we deserved for our sins. 4*. That first time Jesus willingly
allowed Himself to be rejected, punished and put to death for our
sins. Because He did that, and rose again from the dead, He is now
able to forgive our sins and bring us to God IF WE PUT OUR TRUST IN
HIM. 5*.
When Jesus comes the next time it will be for a very different
reason! 3*. He
will come as the Almighty King to take those who trust in Him as
their only Priest and Saviour to be with Him in Heaven.
6*.
Still, for many people, Jesus' return will be like the coming of a
thief! All those who have let some other priest or saviour take the
place of Jesus for them are not ready for, or expecting, Jesus
Himself to re-appear. When He comes they will lose very much
more than any thief could ever take from them! They will lose
forever the chance to have their sins forgiven - it will be too
late then! And they will lose the place in Heaven that could have
been theirs if only they had believed in Jesus, who was the only
One whom God sent to be the Saviour. 7*.
Jesus is coming again! Don't YOU be
taken by surprise when He returns.
Those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus to forgive and save them
are "like men waiting for their master to return". 8*. These are the only true
Christians; and even if the Master "is taking a long time in
coming" still they will not stop loving and obeying Jesus and
expecting His return. 9*.
Jesus has been a long time in coming back - but He told us He
would be! He delays His return to give sinful disobedient
people a longer opportunity to turn from their sins and trust in
Him. But soon it will be too late! Jesus is
coming! "That servant who knows his master's will and does
not get ready or does not do what his master wants" will be in
serious trouble when Jesus comes to him or her like an unexpected
thief! 10*.
Make sure YOU are ready for Jesus' return. Put your trust in Him
now as your Priest and Saviour, and live each day expecting Him to
return at any time to take you home to Heaven. Read Jesus warnings
about His second coming in Luke chapter 12, verses 35-48.
