Today people are taught, and want to believe, that there are no
such things as good and evil! Nothing
is really right or wrong in itself; it all depends on how you feel
in yourself.
But God still says, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good
evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness
"!
1*.
God our Creator has clearly indicated there are rules for
getting the very best out of our lives, and, according to Him, "It
is easier for heaven and earth to disappear" than for these to be
changed! 2*.
Of course you don't have to follow your Maker's instructions,
because when God made man He gave him a freewill! In the same way,
if you buy a new car you wouldn't have to follow the maker's
instructions. For example, you could put water into the engine
instead of oil - it wouldn't be so messy and would be much cheaper!
But it would prove a very costly way of discovering that the
maker's instructions were best!
What about the loving and wise instructions of your Maker? Every
rule He gave for living was for very good reason. When you try to
convince yourself that evil is good you not only mess up your own
life but also the lives of others! And you cause God to be angry
with you for rejecting His advice for that precious life and soul
He entrusted you with.
When Jesus said God's laws would not be changed He then give this
example: "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman
commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits
adultery." 3*.
The very religious Pharisees sneered at Jesus' teachings: just as
many people today scoff and ridicule God's Word. Jesus said to
them, "You are the ones who justify yourselves in the
eyes of men, but God knows your hearts. What is highly valued
among men is detestable in God's sight." 4*.
Today too, the rules of religions and of men are popular but the
Word of God is being considered detestable!
When Jesus came as the Saviour for the world 5*. He said, "The Law and the Prophets
were proclaimed until John (the Baptist). Since that time, the good
news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is
forcing his way into it." 6*.
The Gospel says that for a sinner to become acceptable with God he
has to repent - to want to turn from his sinful ways -
and have faith in Jesus 7*. to forgive his sins and change his life.
8*. That person is
described as being "born again," 9*. and is ready for Heaven.
Here again some "sneer" and say no one can claim to be sure of
heaven and go forcing his way in! But the good news is that by
putting your faith in Jesus the Saviour your are "forcing"
your way into Heaven 6*. and there is no force in Heaven or earth that
can keep that person from getting to Heaven. "Who will bring any
charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies."
10*. All who trust
in Jesus Christ as their only Priest and Saviour are safe for
Heaven!
Read of those who sneered at Jesus' teachings in Luke chapter 16,
verses 14-18.
